Recent data from the Icelandic Meteorological Office indicates a potential reduction in the intensity of the volcanic eruption, suggesting stabilization. Our team is actively monitoring the situation, maintaining close communication with authorities to prfioritize the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.
The eruption occurred in Sundhnúkagígar, located within an active volcanic zone north of Grindavík and east of the Blue Lagoon, aligning with scientific predictions. The eruptive fissure is estimated to be approximately 4 kilometers long, with activity concentrated in three or four distinct areas.
Presently, the volcanic eruption has not affected flights at Keflavík International Airport, and traffic on Reykjanesbraut is operating as usual.
